Board Master 2.0 - Help Files

BoardMaster Help

Exporting Your Board

Exporting a BoardMaster Project to Other BoardMaster Users

When you export a BoardMaster project you will be asked for a filename for the exported project. Save this file in an empty directory on your system. (To create an empty directory on your system, consult your Windows documentation). When you select "OK" BoardMaster goes to work. It will create a new BoardMaster project file in that directory with the name you supplied. It will scan your project and copy all of the images, wav files and script associated with your project into this same directory. To distribute your project simply copy all of the contents of this directory to a CD, ZIP drive, or use a compression utility like Winzip to compress it into a single file for Internet transport. Those receiving the project can open it with a copy of BoardMaster.

Tech Note: A regular BoardMaster Project stores wav and image file names as an absolute path (for example "c:\MyImages\image1.bmp"). Exported projects store only the name of the file (for example "image1.bmp"). The implications of this are as follows:

If you receive an exported BoardMaster project and open it with BoardMaster, it will be converted from an exported project to a regular project. A regular project cannot be opened properly in BoardMaster if distributed to others. Make sure to export the project before distribution.

Exporting Your Project to Web Pages

BoardMaster will export your project to HTML pages. From the main menu select "File" - "Export" - "Export Project to HTML". BoardMaster will ask you for a filename. Create this file in an empty directory. This file will be a main web page that is an index to all of the web pages generated by the export. BoardMaster will also ask if you want the links from this web page to include the image filenames only, or the image filenames and directory names. If you choose filenames only, BoardMaster will generate a number of HTML pages in the same directory as the file you specified above. It will also copy all images needed for these web pages to the same directory. If you choose to export with the links using the filename and directory, BoardMaster will generate the HTML pages in the directory specified above, but will not copy the images to this directory. To see the generated web pages navigate to the HTML file you specified above using Windows Explorer, then double click on this file with the left mouse button. If you have a web browser configured on your system it will launch the index page. All panels in your project can be accessed from links located on this page.

Important Details: BoardMaster will generate web pages regardless of the types of images you use in your project. Unfortunately, not all images are supported by older web browsers. If you are planning to produce web pages from your project, only use web compatible images (ie .jpg). Images in the web page will be located in frames that are similar in size to the frames configured in BoardMaster. Note that BoardMaster saves the web pages using spaces in the filenames, for example "c:\web\Scene 1Panel 1.htm". Note that not all browsers support web pages with spaces in the filename.
