Board Master 2.0 - Help Files

BoardMaster Help

About BoardMaster Projects

BoardMaster maintains links to all image and sound files within your project. This means the program does not incorporate your sound or images into the project file but BoardMaster remembers where your image and sound files are located on your computer. Maintaining links to files helps reduce duplication of image and sound files which take up a large amount of space on your system. The advantage to this is that BoardMaster is very quick and responsive. The drawback is that users may accidentally move or delete files. Since BoardMaster links to your files, if you move or delete an image or sound file BoardMaster will not be able to locate it. If you modify an image or a sound file outside of BoardMaster it will also appear modified within BoardMaster.

Creating a Project

You can open and save projects from the icons above, or by selecting "File" from the main menu. As with most windows programs, File New will create a new BoardMaster Project, File Open will open an existing Boardmaster Project, and File Save will overwrite the current BoardMaster Project. File Save As is only available from the "File" Menu. To add a new file (image) to your project see Adding Images from Files. Once a project is created, you will want to go to the Project Settings and configure default values for your project. BoardMaster suggests creating an empty directory for your project and saving your project file, and all images and sound files in this same folder for clear organization.

The file format of the images you use if very important. If you want to export your storyboard to web pages, ensure you use file types that are understood by your browser such as JPG. Not all file formats are understood by all browsers. See Exporting Your Project for more details.

If it is speed you are looking for and want your images to "flip" as quickly as possible use BMP, but be prepared to have a lot of disk space.

Tip: Although we have tried to make this software as trouble free as possible, always back up your work and save often.
