BoardMaster
Help
Introduction
Welcome to BoardMaster StoryBoard and Timing
Software. BoardMaster software allows you to
create a storyboard project using black and
white or color images. These images can be created
using common image editing or painting software
or built right in BoardMaster. Images can also
be brought directly into the software from most
TWAIN devices like scanners and digital cameras.
BoardMaster also has an image builder where
you can construct your image using clipart and
backgrounds. Image files are imported into the
project using a point and click interface. Once
part of the project, dialog and action comments
are added to each storyboard panel. The panels
can be organized and printed producing a high
quality presentation of your board. Recorded
sound files known as wav or midi files can be
attached to each panel in the board. As the
sound files are attached to the project, BoardMaster
keeps track of your changes, and at any time
can provide a timing summary of the current
state of your work. BoardMaster automatically
numbers film footage. Scripts can be attached
to a project, allowing the user to simply click
on a panel and instantly bring up the point
in the script that corresponds with a particular
part of the story board. Once done, your storyboard
can be played back as a full screen animatic
giving a real representation of the flow of
the story, and an opportunity to capture potential
errors in the flow, logic, or timing. Need to
show your story to someone? What better way
than running the animatic on a laptop. BoardMaster
also has export capabilities which allow a project
to be exported and then transferred to another
BoardMaster user. As an alternative, projects
can be exported to web pages for use on the
Internet or Intranet or Exported to an AVI file.
Installation
To install BoardMaster insert the CD into
your CDROM drive. The install program should
begin automatically within a few seconds . Follow
the instructions to install BoardMaster. If
the install program does not start when you
insert the CD, simply navigate to your CDROM
drive (usually D: drive) using Windows Explorer,
and double click on the file Setup.exe. BoardMaster
will install a "Sample" project which
may be deleted if not desired. The BoardMaster
clip art will remain on the BoardMaster CD as
it takes up a lot of disk space. You may copy
the Clipart folder off of the CD to your local
drive if you wish. BoardMaster can also be uninstalled
using Add-Remove Programs from your computers
Control Panel.
Requirements
BoardMaster recommends using a Pentium 200
with 32 MEG RAM or better. BoardMaster requires
about 25MB of free disk space. The software
also requires a sound card and Windows 95, 98,
2000 or Windows NT 4.0 with the appropriate
service packs for DirectX support. Minimum screen
resolution is 600 x 800 pixels. BoardMaster
may run on a 486 computer but performance will
be sluggish.
The actual requirements will depend on how high
the resolution is of the images used in the
project. For higher resolution images a quicker
system is required. For larger projects a higher
end system is recommended.
